چکیده

We have performed detailed structuraland superconducting studies of YBCO single layers, YBCO/PrBCO/YBCO tn-layers, and YBCØ/PrBCO superlattices. The results for single layers indicate that a nominally one unit cell thick YBCO film sandwiched between ~rBCO layers is not superconducting. However, a superlattice with nominally one unit cell thick YBCO layers has a measurabte superconducting temperature onset (T~).These apparently contradictory results arereconciled by experiments on YBCO/PtBCO/YBCO tn-layers which, due to coupling across the PrBCO insulating layer, exhibit superconductivity for PrECO thicknesses below 200 A. Structural studies show that the length scale of the superconductive coupling is much larger than the length scaleof the step disorder and interdiffusion present in the film.

Optimal SQUID based non-destructive test for detecting sub-surface defects with the help of advanced SQUID superconducting sensors and an experimental approach for optimal production method of these sensors from the YBCO superconductor materials

The conventional eddy current method for non-destructive inspection of welding joints has limitations that can examine defects to a certain depth below the surface of the sample and is not suitable for determining deep defects. This limitation can be overcome using the SQUID superconducting sensors. The nonstoichiometric composition of YBCO due to its superconducting temperature and desired cri...

Samples of YBa2Cu3-xAgxOy with x=0, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.3 and samples of YBa2Cu3-xAlxOy with x=0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03 and 0.045 are prepared by the sol-gel method. Structural and superconducting properties of samples are studied by electrical resistivity (R-T), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). All the samples show transition to superconducting state and the transitio...

The superconducting transition width and illumination wavelength dependence of the response of MgO substrate YBCO transition edge bolometers

Dependence of the phase and magnitude of the response of MgO substrate YBa2Cu3O7 d (YBCO) transition edge bolometers to the near infrared radiation on the superconducting transition width is presented in this work. The bolometers were made of YBCO thin films of 200 nm thickness that were grown on single crystal MgO (100) substrates by DC inverted cylindrical magnetron sputtering. We have measur...

OBSERVATION OF NONUNIFORM CURRENT TRANSPORT IN EPITAXIAL YBa2Cu3O7– x FILM NEAR THE SUPERCONDUCTING TRANSITION TEMPERATURE

We have studied the local transport properties in an epitaxial YBa2Cu3O7 x (YBCO) film on LaAlO3 (LAO) using variable temperature scanning laser microscope (VTSLM) near the superconducting transition. A map of the superconducting transition temperature ðT c Þ is generated from a series of VTSLM images. The map of T c indicates there are inhomogeneities in the film large enough to create nonunif...
